Booked your first White Card course and wondering what to bring? A little preparation makes the day easier. Here is a practical checklist for attending White Card training at FACT Adelaide, at 34 South Tce, Adelaide SA 5000.
Your White Card course checklist
- Original photographic identification and any required proof-of-age documents. Check your booking instructions before leaving home. If you are unsure whether your documents are suitable, contact FACT before the course.
- Your Unique Student Identifier (USI). Have the number ready for enrolment. If you do not have one, use the official USI website or contact FACT beforehand for help.
- Fully enclosed footwear. Wear shoes suitable for participating in practical training activities.
- Comfortable, suitable clothing. You will take part in classroom discussion and practical safety activities.
- Your booking details. Check the date, venue and arrival instructions in your confirmation.
What time should you arrive?
For FACT Adelaide’s morning White Card course, arrive between 8:00 am and 8:15 am. This gives you time for enrolment and your White Card photograph before training starts at 8:30 am.
Students arriving after 8:30 am cannot attend training that day. Plan your travel ahead of time and allow for traffic, parking or public transport delays. Always check your booking confirmation for the instructions applying to your session.
What happens during the course?
FACT delivers CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry face-to-face. The course runs for approximately six hours and combines trainer-led explanations, discussion and practical activities.
You will learn how to recognise construction hazards, understand risk controls, read safety signs, report incidents and respond to emergencies. You will also learn about workplace health and safety responsibilities and the correct selection and use of personal protective equipment.
Assessment may include written questions, verbal discussion, hazard-identification activities and practical demonstrations. The aim is to understand and demonstrate the safety knowledge required for the unit.
Do you need strong English skills?
You need sufficient English reading, writing, speaking and comprehension skills to participate safely and complete the assessments. This includes understanding safety instructions, explaining hazards and completing basic written activities.
If you would like to discuss learning support, contact FACT before booking. Talking through your needs early gives you a clearer understanding of the course requirements and available support.
Will you receive your White Card that day?
After you successfully complete all training and assessment requirements, FACT Adelaide prints your physical South Australian White Card on-site and emails your Statement of Attainment. Attending the course alone does not guarantee certification: successful completion of the assessment is required.
Keep your card, training records and the details of the RTO that issued it. SafeWork SA advises contacting the issuing RTO if you need a replacement card. You can read the official SafeWork SA White Card guidance for further information.
What does the $89 booking include?
FACT Adelaide’s current White Card course price is $89 per person. It includes training and assessment, plus your physical card and Statement of Attainment after successful completion.
Your booking also includes complimentary HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation training. CPR must be booked separately and attended on another available date; it is not completed on the White Card course day. An optional upgrade to HLTAID011 Provide First Aid costs an additional $50 and is also booked for a separate date.
