TLID0020 - Shift Materials Safely Using Manual Handling Hethods course is designed for the construction and transport industries and is NOT suitable for health care workers.

 

This course covers the skills and knowledge required to shift loads safely using manual handling techniques. It provides the skills to ensure workers only carry out manual handling in compliance with the relevant Work Health and Safety (WHS)/occupational health and safety (OH&S) regulations for manual handling and movement of loads.

The course also includes assessing for risks associated with relocating the loads, planning relocation process and carrying out the relocations in accordance with the safe lifting plan.

 

Course Content

 

  • Applying precautions and required action to minimise, control or eliminate risks that may exist when manually lifting and handling goods and materials 
  • Applying relevant legislation and workplace procedures
  • Communicating effectively with others when manually lifting and handling goods and materials
  • Implementing contingency plans when manually lifting and handling, goods and materials
  • Interpreting and following operational instructions and prioritising work
  • Interpreting manual handling risks
  • Modifying activities depending on operational contingencies, risk situations and environments
  • Operating and adapting to differences in loads and materials in accordance with standard operating procedures
  • Reading and interpreting instructions, procedures and information relevant to the manual lifting and handling of goods and materials
  • Selecting and using required personal protective equipment conforming to industry and work health and safety (WHS)/occupational health and safety (OHS) standards
  • Using correct manual handling practices
  • Working collaboratively with others when manually lifting and handling goods and materials
  • Working systematically with required attention to detail without injury to self or others, or damage to goods or equipment.

 

Course Delivery  

        

FACT courses are completed face-to-face at our training location 34 South Terrace, Adelaide 5000. We provide the theory-based reading booklet (Learners Guide) as well as the pre-course study requirements which is in the confirmation email received at completion of booking.

To ensure the integrity of our process, on the day of attendance, Photo ID needs to be provided, Knowledge requirements completed to enable class participation. 

 

Course Duration

 

 2-3 hrs based on  a class of 12 students

 

Certificate Issued

 

Upon successful completion of all training, assessment and administrative requirements, a PDF certificate with email security will be emailed to student personal email addresses as supplied by them. Some conditions apply, including provision of the student USI.

The student USI must be provided prior to the start of the day of practical training and assessment otherwise we cannot guarantee completion of practial training.
